yes, i do still enjoy the shows. i like most of the characters.
no, i believe that the producers have just about exhausted every stop out there. tree hill hospital gets a lot of traffic from haley, nathan, brooke, and the rest of the gang. but i'm still holding my breath, like most of you one tree hill fans are, for peyton and lucas to make an exciting re-entry. even if it is just for a couple of episodes, i still believe it will happen, especially this season (see spoilers).
i know this blog was not born until after i watched the first episode of this season's one tree hill. for that i apologize. (i'm gonna be doing that with a lot of good shows) but i will catch you up. it's time for:
what lisa watched:
so in season 7, clay and quinn were two major characters introduced because peyton and lucas left the show. these were quite large shoes to fill. the jury is still out on whether clay and quinn succeeded. but anyways, they had an enemy as does everyone in the show. their enemy just happened to be a little crazy and wielded a gun in the season 7 finale. katy, a perfect doppelganger of clay's late wife, became obsessed with clay when she realized she could steal him away from quinn by imitating his first wife. when clay didn't end up being as gullible as katy would have hoped, she did the only logical thing and snuck into their house late at night. she then proceeded to firmly stand, confidence blazing, and shoot quinn and clay as they walked into the room.

| so ends season 7. |
so after many, many months of not knowing what would happen to clay and quinn (the suspense was killing me), season 8 begins with clay dreaming. perfect! we go the whole season premiere thinking clay just dreamed the whole thing. only in the end of the episode do we find out that they were both dreaming up this perfect in-between world while being stuck in a coma. OTH producers have always been clever with these kind of devices (i.e. dream states, flashbacks, flash forwards, etc.)
this episode wasn't anything spectacular. it just reinforced a lot of things we already know:
- quinn and clay have been shot.
- haley is pregnant.
- nathan came back from training camp.
- brooke is facing many fraud charges.
- victoria is a manipulative, lying witch.
- brooke can't have babies (we get this. it only goes mentioned EVERY episode)
- mouth and millicent are still in love.
- chase is still juggling two women, both whom are way out of his league.
- julian is still lame and was even in his childhood.
- peyton and lucas are still gone.
#10 is a perfect segway into why i believe this is the season for lucas and peyton to make their comeback. haley has been writing in a journal to lucas. now we all know how lucas and haley were best friends growing up, so it makes sense that after 2 years of him being gone, haley would want to communicate with him. one of the biggest events in one tree hill history was peyton and lucas ending up together. it's the cosmic 'must happen' event of the show. then to make it even better, they had a baby! of course that's not enough for one tree hill producers. they need more drama, so they throw in a rare case that intensifies the pregnancy. for a while there, we thought we were gonna lose peyton. alas, she lived with the baby. but it wouldn't have mattered because peyton, lucas, and the baby disappeared from the show as quickly as every dead character. if i became a theorist, this would be my first theory explored. why did both lucas and peyton leave the show? i understand the need for new characters. was the budget so low that the producers had to cut the two main characters in order to bring in more?
#3 is nothing surprising if you know anything about one tree hill. nathan has been missing his chances to play pro basketball for 7 seasons. why would he make it this season? with all the missed chances, nathan still seems to be a very positive character, but the whole 'this is the season i'm gonna make it big' thing is getting old. it really is just time for him to quit trying. and this might be the season that the producers do this.
**SUPER SPOILER ALERT!!**
next episode, we learn that clay needs a kidney to survive (quinn has already woken up. now we're just waiting on clay to come back like he promises quinn in this episode). the doctor says that clay doesn't have much time, of course. nathan does the only logical thing and volunteers to give up one of his healthy kidneys. the doctors first and only response: 'if you give him a kidney, your basketball career is over.' moral dilemma alert!
END.
